A short look at the process of reduction linocut printing

I am 2 layers into this little print which illustrates the gradual build of the final image.

The reduction linocut technique is a a bittersweet experience.  Because I am not a very good planner, I like to design directly onto the lino, cut away at will and print up all in an organic way.  Not only do I not plan or sketch out the design, I am not the greatest at planning the overlays of ink and therefore am at the mercy of the final colours.  It’s a risky business but I like it.  I think the images have simplicity but an energy which I am happy with.
